Here begins the Re-Assembly!!!

I was feeling froggy last night, so I fed some 1/16" brass sheet into my stomp shear and cut a couple of 1-1/16" strips and then cut them to 3-9/16" long. Then using a belt sander to set the edge at a 45 deg angle and a hand file to finish "tuning" it, I made a pair of slides.

I now have a plan:

I am going have the brass slide etched with the serial number and appropriate patent info in as close a font as we can get to the original, then right below that in the same font I will add "remfg sheeter 2013"

I am so enjoying your journey! Again, many thanks for sharing the progress. Dreams are so funny. Everything is looking spectacular. Those slide plates you made are amazing. It is great that this machine got into the hands of someone who can bring it back to life and bring it back in such beautiful shape.

Question, do you use it for sewing, or does it remain on the shelf?

Right now it remains on the Bench.... hehe

For myself I really do not like the idea of a "display" piece. In this case, this machine was a rust bucket with missing and rusted beyond use parts. I am intending to get this machine as close to "new" as possible and should the universe rotate in my favor and I collect or make the rest of the parts I fully intend to sew with it.

I may be coming into a second one and if so, my plan is to make one of them into a portable with a hand crank and the other in it's original treadle base.

I plan to take it/them to a TOGA event when I can.

I am trying to track down a Howe shuttle and bobbin. Mostly the Shuttle.
