I think you should let your DH do the shopping for old machines, LOL.....You have found a great bargain. Wish I had it even though I have no place to put it.

Great find! You won't be sorry you bought it, even if you have to spend some money on it. I have one, and I love it. Workhorse is the best description I know to describe the 201!

The more I look at the photos, the more I love this machine and cabinet. You are so fortunate. I would love to have one just like it...congratulations.

Thanks everyone for your advice on how to go about working on her. She seems to be quite happy sitting next to her Redeye cousin who is also waiting for us to work on her.

I made a super deal on that one earlier this year. She was advertised on Craigslist with make an offer. I made an offer of $50. He said he was offered $75 for just the drawers, but I could have the machine if I wanted it without the drawers. I about cried at the thought of THAT! I countered with the best I could do is match the $75 but I did NOT want it without the drawers. Then as a last minute thought I said unless he was willing to barter and told him I made felted hats and mittens from wool sweaters, and sent him a link to my Etsy shop. He responded in less than 5 minute and YES we had a deal! I was doing a craft show that weekend, so we agreed to meet. After the show, dh went with me to see the machine. The guy spent 45 minutes going through the rest of my inThat waventory and took 4 sets of hats and mittens. I walked away with the Red Eye AND cash in my pocket! That was a win win deal lol

Now, I'm still patiently waiting for a deal on a featherweight. lol
