Default Tokyo Trembles...

Godzilla lives!! Husqvarna Viking 33-10. Weighs only slightly less than the beast that stomped Tokyo (and Raymond Burr.) I haven't done the scale thing yet but it feels as though the 33-10 (Björn) is to a 201 as a 201 is to a 221. Sure it came in a case but I can't really think of this as 'portable'. I know I'd hate to arm wrestle the housewife who lifted this thing up to a table to use each day

Definitely took us out of our comfort zone - our first (and possibly, though not likely, last!) crinkle finish machine. In this case it tends to accentuate the massiveness of the green beast.

We watched it on Craigslist for some time. When it first was listed Herself (whose main machine before last year was a Husqvarna) wanted it - said that it reminded her of the Trolls that were popular dolls for awhile, so ugly they're almost cute. She called the seller and offered $50 (he wasn't listing a price at the time) but he was looking for $150. After a month or so he was down to $75 and we've got another old zigzag machine. Cute little 'drawbridge' bed extension, though unlike the 221 the top won't go on the case with it folded up.

If it weren't for the chrome that thing could be military issue ...

I got lots of crinkle paint machines. I kind of like them.

See, Joe - one of these would be a good base for your cammo paint job. And if you needed a boat anchor.... I'm not kidding about heavy this thing is. We also picked up a Red Eye in a cabinet (electrified so not a treadle cabinet) and the machine with the cabinet weighs less than Björn the husky Husky!

It's awesome looking!!

I have a Kenmore that weighs about 1,000 lbs. Maybe there is hidden gold inside some of these machines.

Well we don't have a boat, but we could use it to hold the ezup down when we do the craft shows in crappy weather.

That's a cool machine. I have a couple 6000 series Vikings and would have bitten on this one too. I'm not a fan of crinkle, but the green makes it rather special, I think! I must admit I lift these machines often, but I also lift weights 3 times a week at the gym!! Good going.

Well it certainly looks sturdy! No wimpy plastic gears in that baby.

I like it. Very spiffy looking, like a marine in freshly starched fatigues, with his brass all polished.

Yep, a brute. I was just looking at it some more. We read all the time about how strong and smooth Singer 201s are. On fleabay I've seen the Pfaff 130 touted for its 1.3 amp motor (the 201's is apparently 0.6 or 0.9). Björn's? 1.6amp. Full 1/4hp motor. Not that I have any idea why I'd need that much oomph in a sewing machine for home use but it's nice to know that it's there if the occasion should ever arise. I'm going to have to oil it up and give it a try one of these days to see how smooth/quiet it is or isn't.
