    Default Finally Found One!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was checking out CL before Memorial Day and saw an ad for someone selling a Singer Red-Eye treadle and a BRUCE treadle!!!. The cabinet has major veneer damage, especially on the back, and is missing part of the metal frame that holds the drawers (??) but the machine is there with all of the treadle parts. Whoop Whoop! Now I will be able to convert Mom's Bruce back to a treadle like it was in 1915. Plus I can use "Wichita Bruce" to practice the cleaning steps shown by Glenn and others on this great Board, and I'll have a machine for parts if needed. Best part is it cost me $40 and gas for a round trip from the big booming metropolis of Barnsdall to Wichita.... about 3.5 hours one way. She tried to talk me into the Singer for another $30, but I passed. I found a set of Free brand legs closer, but they wanted $100 for them, so I ended up spending about the same but getting original parts. Looks like a trip to the hardware store and auto parts store is coming this weekend
And my daughter is threatening to ban me from Craig's list

What an interesting machine, and story to go with it.

I like Bruce, he was made by the Free Sewing Machine Co. or someone copying them.

I'd use him for a guide on what parts for the other one look like, not as a parts source. I'll bet cleaned up and oiled he sews beautifully. The shuttle mechanism is very quiet and smooth compared to other VS machines.
