Default Fix Clutch on Singer 15-91

I picked up a 1948 Singer 15-91 a couple of days ago at a garage sale for $45. I cleaned it up and the machine purrs, but I can't seem to get the clutch knob to the right spot so that it works properly...Can anyone give me some pointers?

Thanks~Melissa

Take the knob off and look at the washer. The two "fingers" that fit in the grooves on the shaft need to be pointing out. If it is assembled right, but the knob still doesn't turn far enough, take the knob back off and rotate the washer 180 degrees, and that usually takes care of the problem.
