Hmmmm. Not a collector, eh? And yet you are so very well versed and knowledgeable about this machine. I think it's time you admitted it...HAHAHA. Great machine and if I were half as knowledgeable about them as you seem to be, I would be proud to admit to being a collector. nice gift from your Dad. Enjoy.

Oh man, you are lucky and sush sentimental value!!! My singer is a red eye and my grandma made my dresses on it. The teachers at school used to admire my dresses, close up, my gma sewed like a pro. I was the only gdaughter and I sewed so I told Papa I wanted it, he told me I could have it after he was gone. I waited 12 years to have it. I love it!

I may be at the point where I have to admit to being a Singer collector (9w, 99, 66, 301, 221 and a 90's singer) but don't tell my husband...

I have benefitted greatly from the old threads on this forum related to the 9w. Thanks to everyone for the practical knowledge!

It's a gem. I have a few of the Wheeler & Wilson No. 9s that Mickey2 mentions, and they're beautifully-made machines. I drove a very long distance to pick up a 9W that isn't nearly as nice as yours. (Pin rash adds character.) Once you get used to the different tension, it's simple and easy to use. I think it's also the handsomest machine Singer (W&W) ever made.

the way you become a collector is when you get that second machine and it just grows from there......yep.................
