Default Found the Lotus for my Bird's Eye Maple Cabinet

Here is the original post about what I should put in my new to me bird's eye maple cabinet.

I took your suggestions to heart and looked for a Lotus. I found her on eBay last week for a buy it now price of $129.99. Waited 2 days before I took the plunge and bought it. So here she it. Not installed in the cabinet yet, just sitting there.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. She's perfect for the cabinet.

Dollyo,

Very nice machine, and cabinet. It would bennifit greatly from Skips Japan paint / shellac touch up too.

Question, do you know the the date of manufacture is? I only ask because I don't see a motor boss on the pillar and only the very earliest ones did not have that. I have a 1913 vintage 66-1 Red Eye that does have the motor boss.

April 4, 1905. Thanks for the suggestion of the Skips Japan paint/shellac touch up. Where would I purchase that? It's also a back clamp.

Beautiful match up. Those Lotus decals are lovely, and hard to find in good condition. Congratulations.

Dollyo,

Go here for Skips tutorial on touching up the machine finish.

Have you decided what to sew with it yet?

I want to piece some more quilts, but, regrettably, I have to paint one of the rental houses. I hate when life gets in the way of what I WANT to do. Then I want to go thru all of my vintage machines and clean and oil them. Then I get to sew. I probably will sew in between cleaning. I don't think that I can wait that long. I've cleaned and waxed all of the cabinets and the featherweight table that I have. I've been a little afraid to tackle the machines. DH usually does that kind of thing, but I need to learn.
