Default Funny vintage sewing machine lamp

Found something funny this morning:

http://qc.kijiji.ca/c-acheter-et-vendre-art-objets-a-collectionner-lampe-moulin-a-coudre-1950-W0QQAdIdZ521186361

The lamp seem vintage too; have anybody ever seen something like that? Curious to know if it was sold like that or if somebody someday just decide to convert an unused sewing machine into something else.

Profannie, I have an old green Elna Supermatic as a bedside lamp; But I just use it as is, with the small 15-watt (I think) sewing machine bulb as my glowing little night light.

It adds a nice glow to the room. Not enough to read by, but cozy all the same. ;-)

One -could- add that crazy hat-lime lamp as you showed in the link, and still have a functioning sewing machine. Now there's a thought!

Someone inexplicably decided to turn a rather nice sewing machine into a lamp. Too bad they felt the need to drill through the bed in order to do so.

Someone posted an ad a while back that had two Singer machines turned into lamps.

Too bad, as that shade would have made an interesting lamp by itself.

Thats what I thought too! Both elements are cool on their own but it looks like someone just took 2 vintage items and slapped them together. The seller probably could have gotten $150 each if they had kept them separate !

I have seen two around here in antique shops, made into lamps. It kinda hurts the soul to see this done to a good old machine.

My best friends father one said "Nail any two things together that have never been nailed together before and some shmuck will buy it"

Sorry, but I am in Sewing machine and Lamp, never the twain shall meet club.
