FW Belt
I'm a little cranked. Tonight the dog, who has spatial issues, pulled my fw off the dining room table onto the floor. Grr. While I was looking her over I started checking the belt and noticed a crack in it. It's plastic with a small layer of webbing between the outer belt and the teeth. (Otherwise the machine seems fine.) Then I noticed the belt is cracked all over and pulling away from the webbing! Agrh!! The belt was new when I bought the machine in May so clearly I need a better belt. The belt is kind of a yellow/flesh color and a hard plastic. So the question is, which belt do I ask dear LSMS to get me? Is there a rubber one or something that is more sturdy and less prone to crack? Thanks in advance for any advice. My other machines are internally gear driven so I'm clueless on this one.

I avoid the new style cogged amber plastic belts if I can. The ones made in China ( most of them ) are junk. Sew-Classic carries them, some much better Japanese made belts and the old style black V-belts.
Get the black V-Belts. They last much longer and give better service and less slippage than the cogged ones.

I have the black v belt on my website (www.thequiltgal.com) which I have installed a bunch and they last forever. I use the white belt on the white singers and the tan singers and so far they have also been lasting forever.
The machine may have been in a drier area and may be the original belt. They need to be replaced from time to time. It is a small expense to keep the little dears running!

The part number is 194144 if you're calling a shop. They'll likely be expensive though.
Sew-Classic will be much more reasonably priced for the belt than April1930s.
If you need them, service manuals and owner's manuals can be found for free on ISMACS.net or the Singer site. You should never pay for one.

I got a black v-belt one this morning. $12.50 and my LSMS guy was nice enough to put it on. (Not that I couldn't but now I don't have to.) It was a little spendy compaired to online but I didn't have to pay shipping and I like shopping local. I have the service/owners manuals from ISMACS.net Thanks for the help!

That's not a bad price at all. If you consider $7 plus a few dollars shipping, it's not really out of line, and he did install it, which saves the 3 adjustments I usually have to do before I'm satisfied on a FW. 
The last time I had to buy a belt, before I became a dealer, they wanted $20 for one! AND he overtightened the belt. *sigh*
