Pretty wood, probably not $1200 pretty though. Well, at least the scrappers and repurposers won't be interested.

I must be purely stupid because I don't see what's terribly wrong with that one...

They took multiple pictures of the back of the machine and none of the front

$1200 and they only show two pictures of the treadle (from behind) no pics of the machine or the front...
That looks like the same wood and the same irons as mine. My top is oak though, it's not the right one. Maybe they're not showing the machine because it looks like mine, lol.

The price is decent for what it is, the pictures are clear, and the condition of the machine can probably be extrapolated to the front -- it's in good shape. They even got the model number correct (although it's not 'series' -- they might have mixed it up with 158, which is a series) and they show the manual.

I cruise CL every day and this is a good ad compared to many in my area. I've seen many ads with blurry pics in which you can't even tell what is being offered for sale, ads for sewing machines that only show the closed table, ads for machines that don't include a machine, etc.

I guess my standards are a lot lower.

Reading Craig's List ads will do that for you.

"Reading Craig's List ads will do that for you."

True that. I try to give sellers a break; I can't expect everyone to know the backs/fronts of machines, let alone that one is necessarily more important than the other.

There are some really great deals I would have missed out on had I applied a very high standard to their CL ads.

Maybe but I sure won't drive anywhere just to look at the front of a machine let alone buy it when they clearly know how to take pictures ans post them. Well, they just are too stupid to take a picture of BOTH sides of the beast.
