I think hand wheels are the first thing John notices and then checks the clutch/stop motion. He is drawn to the large treadle hand wheels and if it is the solid ones he prefers them chromed.

That was my initial thought, too. but then I saw where the hinges were. Then noticed the front leaf, to lift to raise the head, was in the correct position.

That has got to be it. And .... did not pay attention to where the holes were for it - consequently used a power tool to make screws go into the top - BACKWARDS

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a cabinet that I hadn't seen and possibly have drawers on the side. It was a while before I knew that they made one like that (for the 101, I think).

At least they got the front of the machine pictured -- so many don't even do that.

There's a rocketeer. The other one? 27? 9? We will likely never know.

Mood lighting - good for the movies, no so much for Craigslist ads.

I'm curious about this. The only side storage I've seen is the hinged bin that swings out under the leaf in some late 1950s models.

Yes, that is the one (hinged bin) I was thinking about. I haven't seen a model 306 cabinet in real life. I have seen them advertised on CL and found it in the 101-4 & 101-12 manual from 1951. I thought perhaps there might be another cabinet that I hadn't run across -- but pretty sure http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/atq/5327424249.html had the drawers put back on the top backwards.

The black one is a Singer 15 possible a newer machine?
and the other is a Singer 503 since it doesn't have the stitch selector.
Just really lousy salesmanship
