My husband just purchased this beauty for me. The motor says 1969 but other than that I know nothing of it. He paid $25 Im hoping its not a loss and it seems to be running well. Can someone tell me what model this is and if its a good one ? Im just starting of and really could use a point in the right direction.[ATTACH=CONFIG]570118[/ATTACH]

how can you lose for $25? Plug it in, oil the moving parts, dismantle the bobbin mechanism then clean and oil it, and ENJOY! Lucky you.

Riccar's have a nice reputation. I haven't owned one yet. AS part of the cleaning, make sure you clean the tension discs too. Lots of good $25.00 machines out there. And welcome from the mild hills of Kansas.

That's a sweet machine! It just does straight and zig-zag, but should make a great stitch. The presser foot tensioner (on the top/left) needs to be pushed down so there's enough pressure to pull the fabric through. The lever on the front/right is your stitch length. And the dial on the front/middle is your stitch width.

The holes in the top of the machine are for oiling. Open the door on the left end and oil in there, and in the bottom of the machine. It looks like it's in pretty good condition -- the bobbin winder tire looks new and the paint doesn't look scratched. Clean up the bobbin area and have fun sewing.

I have one just like it in green! Couldnt find any info on it online but now at least I know the year it was made. I also paid $25 for ir, I hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am mine.
