I love my 404. If I had to choose amongst my machines I expect that is the one I'd keep.
I paid $125.00 for mine, not quite in your range of bargains

Ohhh! A 404 is a slant with a horizontal 66 bobbin? WANT. Stupid tiny 221/301 bobbins.

I paid $5 for mine. It resides at my church so I don't need to take a 301 back and forth. Sews very well, but not as good as a 301, IMO. Perfect condition - just over oiled.

Congrats on your 404! Same family as the 401 slant needle machines but straight stitch only so no complicated setup to deal with. If it's as powerful as the 401A you'll love it.
