Default Got a deal at a yard sale!

Got a Singer 404 at a yard sale in a little blond table cabinet for $1.00.

I did not expect them to accept that offer!

It looks pretty decent. It works - checked it out before deciding on whether to even make an offer - needs a new bobbin winder tire - other than that - didn't notice anything wrong with it. No attachment or instruction book - but already have that with another machine.

Sounds like a bargain. How about a picture?

Congratulations! What a deal! It pays to make an offer -- you just ever know how badly some sellers need to move an item.

I like 404s - so easy to use - easy to see what you sew - light weight

Thank you for the reassurance about it. They don't seem to get much "attention" like some of the other models.

Score!! I've never sewn on a 401/404 but I sure do love my 500A and they're pretty close kin. As miriam said - so easy to see what you're doing!

What a killer deal!

I love my 401. I got it at an estate sale in the desk cabinet. Paid $150.00 all attachments and the manual. Cleaned and worked on it right away. DH wasn't happy at first but next morning I heard a humming sound and DH was repairing a denim jacket. Told me I did good. Bearisgray you did good for $1.00. They practically gave it to you!! Congrats!!
