Thanks for the links--I've used the TFSR site many times. Love the detail and trouble shooting there.

Yes - that site has real good info - I had one I was stumped on and that site got me through it.

Here I thought you were talking about stress type tension. lol Although one tension problem will begat the other I suppose.

If it is not threaded through the tension right - it won't work. Thread has to go across the machine, through the tension, through the spring then up over the tension bar (if it has one), through the take up lever and on down through what ever thread guides then into the needle from the left. The needle has to go in according to the manual.
Here is a scan from the manual with one of my 15 clones, that has the threading a little different, in that it goes through the disks, over the bar, then the spring, then take-up lever, etc. It had me confused at first, until I thought about how some have the little bar built in sort of, that you pull through the spring and ending up going over the bar so you get the same effect here.

so you are saying it goes through the disks up over that bar, back down through the spring and then up to the lever. WOW. I think I had one that didn't even have that bar.
