I am very excited. My Hubbie just picked up his Great grandmothers treadle sewing machine. The name on it is Service. I can not find anything on it. But it has a serial number of 112609. We think it has to be about !890 to early 1900. It is a small machine ( its smaller than a singer) After oiling and minor adjustment it was sewing. It Has a nice stitch. I will try and post pictures tomorrow.

What a great find. Enjoy. There's something very soothing about sewing on a treadle.

Can't wait to see pictures. Congrats and it is nice to have something with family history. My husband and I are both immigrants so there is not much that got passed down or we have from parents, grand parents or even from when we were babies.

Not only a great machine but a keepsake from your great grandmother. Cherish it!

I just picked up an old Singer treadle for my friend, and they told me that if the serial number was only numbers, it was pre 1900. Nearest I can date it is 1885. She says her best Christmas present will be having me bring it home to her. You can go online and look up the brand and serial number, and get quite a bit of info. Good luck and have fun sewing.
