And most importantly, if you find plastic things offensive and crave wood and metal in your life.

That kind of mind set.

I'm in. I'm most definitely in.

Aren't synthetics just a form of plastic?

What type of fabric? Maybe you can find some fake leather--it might be easy enough to work with. My thought would be denim. JMHO.

All vintage Singer machines have the same plate on the bed.

I was watching "The Avengers" in black and white today. There's a TV station in Waco,TX that has all sorts of old TV programs and movies. I was using my White Rotary treadle while I was watching it.

Almost everyone outside the U.S. would think of WW1 when 1914 is mentioned.
In 1914 the entire world (except America) was plunged into war. Mustard gas and flame-throwers were considered the ingenious inventions of that time and millions were killed or disfigured, women were considered second class possessions and couldn't vote, the class system was still in place... not a lot to like about 1914 and in Australia 1915 wasn't much to look forward to either. A few days ago (28th June) was the 100th anniversary of the murder that triggered the so-called "great war".

I think the '50s was a pretty good decade for most of the world, but still not that great if you're in an ethnic minority (aborigines didn't get the vote here until 1966).
