Default Look what my daughter brought me!!!

She isn't pretty yet but I am hoping she will look better after a "bath". Her serial number is G6286311 and the best I can determine she was born in 1919. Also interesting is that the motor pivots, I have not seen that function before but I am new to the Vintage machines. The wiring is totally shot, OMG another project in the works.

There is a handwritten note with the machine. It says quote: "Portable Singer Sewing machine & bullet bobbin. Wally paid $12.00 for it in 1920. Our first Christmas in Sacramento. I sewed presents for Mardi & Donna (dolls & dresses)."

Since one of my other hobbies is genealogy I am going to try to find out more about the original owner. My DD knows the person she got it from quite well and we hope that he will remember them.

I ll be darned that is a really neat machine to own! It has been refurbished at sometime in is life and it was from a factory assigned dealer. That machine is very collectible and I would take my time and clean it up really nice and try not to use it if you dont need to. It is a rare find especially in this nice of condition.

here are some very well done videos how to clean it up. It doesn't look like it is in bad shape so the simple clean up Muv shows how to do should do the job!!!

Thanks Billy. How can I tell if it was a refurbished machine? It has the original wiring which is in horrible condition, too dangerous to even plug it in. I will know a little bit more when bath time comes.

Ooooh pretty! That machine will be gorgeous once you get it fixed up. The motor assembly is very interesting.

Well Billy, what kind is it? I have trouble reading those Singer charts. It seems to me there aren't enough numbers to to find out what it is.
