Default Help my thread keeps breaking on my Singer 201

DH was sewing on our 201 and the needle broke, the needle as replaced and then it keeps skipping stitches and taring the thread. He has changed the thread, needle, bobbin, tried adjusting the upper tension and it is still skipping several stitches at a time and the upper thread is shredding up and breaks. If anyone can give us advise we would dearly appreciate it. This is his favorite machine and he loves how she has ALWAYS ran so smooth and he loves using the hand crank. Thanks for any advise!

My 201 was skipping stitches when the needle was in the wrong way.

Since it started happening after you broke a needle, I would check and see if there's part of the broken needle down in the bobbin case. Clean it out, oil, replace:

Good luck.
