Default Machine bed sizes

I've been quilting with a Singer 401A and was wondering if there is a machine with a longer bed. It's tuff to quilt kings on the 401A.

Do you mean the space between the needle and the right side of the machine? There are quite a few machines, with a longer harp/throat. My Janome Horizon 7700 has 11".

Yes, that space. My jumble up and push through the hole method would work better if the bed was longer.

The 201 and 319 have more throat space. There are industrial type vintage machines with long beds. Otherwise, there are PLENTY of new machines with longer beds.

The 66 and 15s also have more space. I think the 201 has the most of a normal household type machine.

I have a 15-90 clone I haven't tried out yet. I'll have to check the size this evening.

Thanks.

My 201 has more space than my 401a.

The 201 has 8 or 9 inches of space.

I quilted an almost king sized quilt on my 15-91. I did cut my batting into thirds, because I was worried about it being to much to push and shove through. Felt like more space than it actually measures, I think. I didn't find myself struggling. I think it would have been okay even had I left the batting in tact (maybe a little tight in the middle - but I don't think it would have been bad).
