My grandmother had one of these, you could actually sit down while you used it. She kept hers on a closed in back porch
great place to iron when it is 20 degrees below zero. Something else that I remember is the sprinkling of dried laundry before you ironed it. Once a week, the refrigerator had rolled up dampened clothes to be ironed. You sprinkle it the night before and ironed the next morning. Something else I remember is that the women at the Methodist church had decorated bottles to put your water in and add a sprinkle top. Once the ladies from the Baptist church discovered that they were made from beer bottles, the gossip swirled in our small town. Many ladies in many churches took second
looks at what they were offering at their fall sales.

Williams Sonoma advertises the Miele ironer. Wish I had a place for one.

I remember the mangles, never used one. I just use my iron and ironing board. If clothes need to be ironed I donate them. I use to iron five family clothes and took in ironing for extra money. Now I only iron because when making quilts it can't be avoided.

Saw one up for auction recently, but I wasn't able to attend. Would have been neat to have if I could spare the room!

(And no one has mentioned the sewing machine yet? 201?)

I bought one at an auction last year. I posted photos of it on the thread http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...e-t130180.html

I haven't ever gotten around to using it yet.

I was guessing a Singer 201 on the sewing machine too.
