Default Poor little thing, I just couldn't leave it behind.

Covered in nicotine and crud. First round of sewing machine oil got it better. I would not even take a before pic because it was too sad.

The nose cover and back plate were even black. But it sure reversed a lot. LOL. Even my husband said it looked like a workhorse. It had enough lint under the needle plate that I was surprised it even ran at all. Love it anyway.

Um, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that looks like an early 1200.

I'm thinking so too. It should clean up and be a good one.

If my research is correct, the 1200 is a 201 with a knee lift. Since this one is missing the knee lift is is "almost" a 201, hehe

here is a copy of the manual

Wow, Thanks!! I just thought it was neat. I wondered about the openings on the back and what was supposed to be there.

Yep, it came in a table for tailors. It's a lot more common now to find them naked like this, out of their table. There's a gal on another group who has three of them but it took her a long time to find an original table for one of them. The curious thing about them is that they were listed as a 201 in Singers records up until the last 10 years or so of their production, so there's no way of knowing how many were actually made.
