Scrolling down the pictures the manual says Sewing Machine. So typo. Sure seem to sit sideways in the cabinet or is it just my perception?

It does indeed sit sideways in the cabinet. I think its a Wheeler and Wilson #4.

Sometimes you can get good deals for things when you look for miss-spells - it goes under the radar of other bidders so you don't have as much competition when you are bidding. That is if its a good price to begin with.

thats how i wound up with a FW "sowing" machine! was hoping to feed some little piglets...

That's how I found my machines. The first one was listed as a "trindle" the other was a "sowing" machine. Both were good prices. I always search craigs list with several different search terms including some misspellings.

Yep, a Wheeler & Wilson #4. They do sew with the fabric moving from left to right.
