Nice machine. I'm not a huge fan of the blond fiish but I do like the left handed desk. It just makes more sense to have the machine on the right hand side. Much more room to work that way.

Who can resist that nice looking machine and cabinet. Nice find. Enjoy your new machine. If we do listen to our hearts desire there will be no more vintage sewing machines anywhere else in USA. We will all be buying them. So the motto should be 'if we feel like it go and buy it'

Just yesterday I opened the cabinet to have a look at mine like this one. She looks so small now compared to when I first bought her new 1958/59. Thought about test driving her but was on my way to the shop with my Quantum L 500 , the bobbin thread kept hanging up and breaking. Couldn't find the reason, there was a burr on the cover plate, all fixed now..
But I loved sewing on my Singer 401 made all 5 of my daughters clothes and mine for years on it,plus some many other things she sewed like a champ. enjoy yours.

Good choice of machines. My wife & I have five Singer 401A machines (1 at home that stays set up full-time and used regularly, 2 that we alternate for daily use at our shop, & 2 un-serviced “spares” that I have stashed for “just in case”), our daughter had 2 until she gave one to a friend, and our daughter-in-law has one. The DIL’s is the only portable.
As you can tell, we think they’re pretty good machines. I have a Singer 403A portable too, but I haven’t ever serviced it up and used it.
