Red face I found a 221 featherweight!

I found a 221 featherweight at the giant flea market in Canton, TX. I paid $235 which included the featherweight table. Sews beautifully. Just the motor starts off running slow and speeds up as you sew. Maybe cleaning and oiling will solve this problem. I am very pleased and plan to use her in my motorhome. Hurray for me. I hit the vintage jackpot.

Wonderful! You will love having her. I do piecing when watching videos by putting my FW on a round wooden bar stool. No other sewing machine would ever fit that small space.

Could be that cleaning, oil and lubricate the motor would fix it. If it does not, check the brushes and perhaps they need to be replaced. Another way you can check about the brushes (besides the slower speed) is if it gets hot to the touch when you sew - sure fire way to tell that the brushes are too short and need to be replaced.
