So Anastasia, how's it coming along? I am doing this one with you. I have Rain's tut open and have a greasy smeared napkin at this point. Oh and nasty dirty hands..I forgot to wear my rubber gloves. It's not easy being green lol!

Congrats on your great find! Hope you get it up and running soon. I love my 15-125 for piecing and FM quilting.

I'm terrified. I feel sick. I have a very bad feeling here. I pulled out the armature and EVERYTHING looks greasy-the copper wires, the plates on the sides..everything. Is this bad??

Trying not to cry. The metal plates on the sides don't feel greasy...

Anastasia, I hope you take photos so I can see what yours looks like in comparison. I am hoping to learn that mine is ok, but if not, I hope to learn to tell what is and what isn't ok.

I'm not the one to ask because I haven't done a motor (I sent it one off on vacation for a week and it came back shiny new). That said, looks like it needs to have the grease cleaned off and the communicator needs cleaned too. Standard icky motor stuff.

I still can't get into mine. I have a couple of cracks on my right thumb and I can't get enough force out of my left hand to get it off. I did plug it in and give it a shot. It runs fine but there is two places on the wire that have dried to the point of cracking. Looks like it was exposed to some kind of heat at some point.

I'll be looking for green wires now.

1. Wait until an electrically familiar person post to confirm this.
2. Should not be an issue, it does not look that bad to me.
3. you can use things like electro-sol spray cleaner to remove grease and oil (Made specifically for use on electronics)

Thanks for the input so far. I am hopeful, but will wait for an electrically familiar person. *Fingers crossed.

I tried this machine yesterday and it ran very nicely. I am already in love with it, so praying it will be ok.
