To make a story short. My nephew was out junking. He came a cross a light weight singer sewing machine. Some one was throwing out. The copyright book has dates from 1915-1933. I'm curious if some can give a date it was made. Singer--AD940584[ATTACH=CONFIG]548716[/ATTACH]

Lucky you. Your nephew did good. That is indeed a 1935 Featherweight 221-1 machine. It is one of the earliest Featherweights as indicated by the bobbin tension being the chrome "school bell" bobbin tension and "split base." Terrific find, and may I say I would be jealous if I was prone to jealousy...but one person's good fortune is everyone's good fortune.

I can't allow myself to search for one, I've decided one must find me somehow, in my travels. I wonder what it's waiting for.

Excellent! They sell on Ebay for $170 to, well the sky is the limit. Keep it clean and well oiled and it will last for years and years. They live on oil. Great find.

It's a great little machine! Sews a nice straight stitch. Clean her up, and stitch away!
