Default I know you guys will appreciate this story....

So, I went today to my local Savers (just in case you don't have Savers where you live, it's a thrift store, like Salvation Army, only a bit nicer) to drop off some donations. Every time I go near there, I always check in to see if that elusive antique sewing machine is just waiting for me to grab it. Alas, the only things I've ever seen are 1970's and 1980's Singers, usually dinged up, missing pieces, and a total mess.

Today I went back into my usual area - the furniture/appliance department. I was glancing around and I saw - on the very bottom shelf - a BLACK CASE!! In my head, I'm going OMG.....OMG.... OMG! I practically sprinted to it (yes, there were other people around, and I hoped to avoid a shoving match), dragged it out, opened the top and found - A HAM RADIO SET!!

Then I stood there laughing at myself for about 5 minutes.

There's always next time, I guess!

I stop and look as well when I am near the Savers here. There was one there one day, two tone, pretty dirty, but shiny under the grime (I checked), only $12.50. I almost picked it up. It was a National or an International...can't remember which. I didn't get it, and have been sorry ever since. And, I have only seen a couple yucky, broken, plastic relics since....live and learn. Someone got a nice machine that day.

Oh, yes! I'm sure your heart was going a mile a minute! Good that you can laugh about your disappointment.

I do appreciate your story and I also felt your disappointment. I just knew you were going to tell us you had found a FW. I would have never gused it was going to be a Ham Radio. I 'm so sorry. Don't give up as your turn will come.

I went to my local Goodwill and on the bottom shelf was the 'yellow' straw case! Picked it up, sat it on the buggy and opened it. A 306K Singer, with everything there. No attachments, but had all the cords and a bobbin case. I paid 17.50 for it and got it to the truck just as it started to rain. LOL Although..I almost broke my arm when I first started to pick it up! Didn't know those things weigh 25LBS!! Cleaned up great and with the proper needle, sew like a dream. Got lucky and found some cams for it, but haven't tried them yet.
So keep looking, you will find a great deal one of these days.
