This is my Singer 15K. As best I can tell it is a 15-96. The Serial # is ED 506075 and the charts I find say it was allotted on November 5, 1945 and was made in Kilbowie, Clydebank, Scotland. She's a bit of a rough "lass" but I'm excited about her none the less. The bobbin plate cover is missing but I have found several online. I wrote an earlier post about the Under Cabinet Spring Assist Lift Hinge not holding the plate in place that the belt passes through. I'm still not sure if it is sprung or I just don't understand how to adjust it. It is in a Model No. 1 cabinet. The RAF decals are in pretty good shape. I found a Manual on the Smithsonian website and copied it to learn the basics. There were no extra attachments with it and I'm not sure what was originally packaged with it. I'm new to these vintage machines but figured the only way to learn would be to jump in with both feet and I was able to get this one at very little cost. This will be my learning experience on how to clean one up, get her going and learn something in the process. I've tried to do a Search on the Board for more information but when I type in Singer 15-96 I get a very long list of posts and many don't seem to be related. I must not be doing it right. As you can tell I'm very green behind the ears so any help you can offer will be great.

Pretty!! I've looked at a few machines with the RAF decals ... I'm drawn to them. Haven't found one in the condition I want for the price I want ... and none of them have been treadles (which I prefer to an E machine).

Oh. I got lucky with a White that I purchased a little while ago. I found the bobbin slide plate wedged into the back of one of the drawers. So don't forget to look!!

Thanks for the heads up on looking for the bobbin slide plate. I'll check it out real good before I order one. She's not fancy but the price was right. I purchased it on a whim with the thought that it would be part of my learning experience on what the vintage machines are about - how to clean, maintain and use them. Now that I have it home, and walk past it several times a day, I'm warming up to it. Right now I'm trying to get up the nerve to start opening it up and cleaning it. I think the only thing keeping it from sewing is the Under Cabinet Spring Assist Lift Hinge. I can't seem to get in there and adjust it to keep it from rubbing on the belt.
