    Hey folks,

I am not starting a business doing this but since I have all of the tools necessary to make these quickly and easily, I have offered to make folks here slide plates for the cost of materials and shipping.

I can make them out of steel, brass, copper, or aluminum.

I have a plating machine and silver salts (plating solution) currently, but others can be purchased.

If you know the size and thickness of yours let me know. I am starting to compile a list of dimensions for known slides. If not we can discuss how to go about finding the correct information.

    A couple of notes:
    1. Sometimes the front and back slides are different lengths
    2. The width measurement we need is the width at MAX if you have the original
    3. The width measurement without the original is the width of the slot at it's widest.
    4. Sometimes the "inboard" (closest to the needle) portion is slightly smaller than the outboard portion.
    5. Most slides are 16ga or 14ga in thickness. (.0508 to .0641 respectively), some are thinner.

    Steve,

Ah, you caught my suggestion - great!

I need a front slide plate for a Singer VS2 - but - how in the world would we figure out size-wise what we'd need?

My VS is a fiddle base like this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/12191610...ng-machine-and where the front edge follows the taper of the fiddle base. We would need someone who has one in order for you make a duplicate......

or you could do a pencil trace of the shape then put a ruler on top of it and take a really clear picture....

    I could extrapolate from there.

Steve, how about if I make a tracing of my VS2 front slide plate and put it in the mail to you for those who are needing one? Or I could send it to you so you can make an exact replica. I know I am not going to do anything with my sewing machine till summertime.

A tracing would be great! measurements of the original to be compared against the tracing would be perfect. Thanx
