Default Singer (Merritt)1812 machine (?)

My DSIL and my DD brought me his mother's machine tonight. She(mom) is getting ready to move and thought of me when she got to the machine. Says she still has some cams and a few bobbins..somewhere, will send when she runs across them.
Anyway. Does anyone have this machine and how good are they at free motion? There is an inch more to the harp than the one I am currently using. I need to give it a good cleaning, but the little I did sew with it seemed very good.
I downloaded a manuel from Singer, but any more info would be great.

I can remember serving a new casserole dish to my kids once. I told the older kids they weren't allowed to complain about the food. The littlest kid looked at the biggest kid after he tried a bite and said, 'is it good?' Same deal here - it is all a matter of taste....
The Merritt is a modern mechanical machine with disks to make various stitches. The Merritt has plastic and stamped metal parts so keep it maintained. Keep it in use. All you can do is try it with free motion and see how you like working with it. The one I have makes nice stitches.
