Can someone tell me what is so special about this machine? I know it's a ruffler but it's not vintage.
This is only the second one I've seen and the other one went way high too.

near as I can tell this one is way to high, but then again I suppose if you NEED a dedicated ruffler you dont have a lot of options. Looks like a 15 clone to me.

It is a 15 clone in shape, but that's about all. The motor, foot controller and wiring set up is AlphaSew (I've bought three of those set ups from Sew-Classic), the hand wheel is something different. If it's a 15 clone head, it's been worked over a lot.

Looks like they make over class 15s to be dedicated rufflers. I've seen a few in different colors/faceplates on CL and Shopgoodwill. http://www.johnsonrufflingmachines.com/

I have one, bought it new for $300. back in 1984. It ruffles like nobody's business...we used them to make the ruffled country curtains that were popular at the time. The finger that pushes the fabric into a ruffle is strong and about an inch wide. I still have it and would not want to part with it.
