Default Just won a Silver 15-91

I've so wanted one of these since I first saw one, and I finally got one! Well, I will after it's shipped . . .

I'm happy, but my "Christmas money" is going down fast! Maybe I can give myself another allowance for Valentine's Day - after all, I won't be wanting something like a diamond necklace or an expensive night on the town . . .

And this is a 1932 vintage - so now I'll have a Singer from the 30's also! Though now I'll have another 15-91 to rehome.

I also did a "buy it now" on an old Eldredge B this AM - thought and thought about it, and it will look so good with my old set of Eldredge attachments.

My other machine is still in transit. It made it to Des Moines IA, and for some reason turned around and went back to IL . . . have no idea where it's going to show up next . . .

cathy, cathy, you've been so bad this year. WOW that's a nice machine(s). we want pictures. what's a silver 15-91? as in silver in color ? pardon my ignorance.

googled it and found out that the logo is nickel plated and not gold and made in 1932 with 5000 units only. a rare find and a nice one.

I don't think these are super rare - I've seem some that were made in 1931 and also 1932. Based on the ismacs information, this may simply be what Singer did for the very first potted motor 15's they produced. When you look at the production runs, prior to 9/31 they are large. Then about every three months from Sept 31 to early 33 the runs are all 5,000. Counting up, if these were all "silver" there would be about 40,000 of them made. Based on how many I've seen, i think that would be more reasonable than only 5,000.

In early 1933 the runs go back up to larger numbers, and this is when Singer started making the same model with the potted motor in the non-potted motor version.

So - those out there with Singer 15-91's, anyone have a non-silver one with a serial number earlier than AD 502,700?

The only 2 Singer 15s that I have from the 1930s are 15K80s and they have Y-series serial numbers and gold logo plates.

CD in Oklahoma
