Default Kenmore 1781 (158.17812)

I just acquired one of these at a garage sale last Saturday for $30.00

It seems to be running perfectly.

I wasn't able to find much info on them.

Any comments or opinions?

The Kenmores made my Maruzen/Jaguar like yours are excellent machines. I have 4 of them. All are very quiet, strong, smooth, and consistent sewers.
Yours was made somewhere in the mid 70s. The Sears DOM chart shows the model numbers but no dates.

They do like Tri-Flow for the oiling places, and regular sewing machine oil for the motors.

Joe, how do I find the Sears DOM chart? I have two Kenmores I would like a little more info on.
Thanks

Mine, too (heavy) - I found it at a Habitat for Humanity store in a cabinet for $50, had to nurse it back to health with a little oil - it was froze up from non-use, but it sews like a little trooper!
