Default Kenmore Model 50

Does anyone know when the Kenmore Model 50 was Made? All Sears could tell me was that it was prior to 1978. Thanks.

I belong to a vintage Kenmore group on Yahoo, and here's what they say:

158.500 1960-61; 158.501 ‘61-62; 158.502 ’61; 158.503 ’62; 158.504 ’63-65; no year shown for 158.505.

Your specific model number should be on a plate on the machine. Sorry, I don't know where it is on yours. On my 1974 model it's on the front when you tilt the machine up a bit.

When you give a Kenmore model number you should include the prefix as well as the numbers following the - between them. That way we have more information to look up.

Con you post a picture of your machine and any numbers you might find? It might help the people here date it for you.

Thanks. the model number is 158.504. When I emailed sears with this number, they told me it was a model 50 and sent me the instruction book for it.

The Kenmore 158-504 was made from 1963 to 1965, by Maruzen / Jaguar in Japan.

Yes it's a model 50, but this is a generic model number and there's a series of six model numbers within it. Not all were made at the same time. That's why we need the specific and complete model number to get the date of manufacture.
