AAAARRRGH....I get driven mad when you guys pick up these awesome, stunning machines at such low prices....no such deals to be had down-under.

You scored big time on that deal. The top is an easy fix, just go to lowes and the have the oak veneer for the top that is the correct thickness for what was on the cabinet. It is in the you finish cabinet isle next to the formica tops.

The Japanese 15 that you have you will love it!! I have one that is my go to machine and I will be honest with you, I have serviced more Singer 15's than I car to think about but the Japanese versions are a lot better built and the quality control was spot on!!

I would pick my Universal 15 over any Singer that I have touched!!
