You were fortunate to find such a lovely cabinet and machine. Learn to use the machine and you will enjoy how relaxing it is to sew with a treadle machine.
I have that same cabinet, it has a 1936 Singer 201k in it right now. I recently replaced the original treadle stand with an identical set that is in better condition and is so much smoother. (doesn't clank either) My treadle cabinet was free, the second treadle stand was $15. My original set was the donor for the treadle belt guides and belt shifter.

You will love having such a beauty. I love my treadle because (here in Florida) when the power goes out (hurricanes, at times) you can still sew. There is no better way to get rid of frustration than to treadle it away. Enjoy!!!

Thanks for all the nice words about my new beauty. I moved her to a more perminent place in my sewing studio yesterday and got out my wood oil with a light stain in it. I put some on part of the cabinet and it covered up all the little scratches beautifully. I may not get the cabinet refinished after all! I did some more practicing on her yesterday and she sure has a nice stitch....hope my Elna doesn't get jealous! Oh and my DGD's came over yesterday and saw her and can hardly wait for me to show them how to use her (they are almost 5 and almost 7).

She sews like a dream! I love her already and see she is going to give my legs a workout! Now to discover her name...
