Yes there is something loose and needs to be tighten. It would help if you would post a pic of the area you suspect that is bad. Or you may have a broken rod somewhere. I would not use it till we find the problem

It could also be that someone put something in there - maybe a little master mechanic???

Is this supposed to move back and forth? I tried to take pictures but I'm not very good.

Its the strait rod on the right. It moves side to side at the top. Is there supposed to be a spacer/washer something there?

Short of having that machine on a bench, I don't know what to say. That is a link to an adjuster's manual. It has drawings of how it is suppose to look. Maybe you can figure something out from it. There is a fellow who comes on board on occasion. His name is Rain. He has a blog that I subscribe to. He is very knowledgeable on these machines. Here is a link to his blog - maybe you can get in contact with him. http://vssmb.blogspot.com/ I hope he will help you right on here. I have a 15 clone that occasionally gets itself hung up in that same area - I have to jar it and it is good to go awhile. I haven't explored it enough to fix it though - too much other stuff going on. Mine also needs a replacement tension.

I hope you get this problem fixed.

I "need" a Cinderella. That's my mom's pet name for me. My dad named me Cindy after a song (Git Along Home, Cindy, Cindy).

I'm going to try to put some felt circles on either side of the rod. At least it will cushion it some. will let you all know how it works out. I am trying to find someone local to take Cinderella to but so far no luck. The only good sewing machine guy I know of has retired due to really bad health. I wouldn't trust his son to push my wheelchair. Nevermind Cinderella!! He just doesn't care enough about fixing sewing machines. he want you to buy a new one.
