My wife came up with our first Singer Rocketeer machine yesterday. It’s a 1962 503A in a nice cabinet. I guess I’ll be getting acquainted with it in the next few days.

I’ve been trying to identify the model name or number of the cabinet, but haven’t got it figured out yet. It has a 2-piece fold-out top, a support lever under the left end, and a storage door with a mounted “box” under the left end. Anyone know what it’s called?

I like the cabinet - so dainty and elegant.

The Sew-Classic belt for my 29-58 arrived today. It is installed. It's always a pleasure when I have a legitimate use for my beloved patcher.

I feel the same way about my Politype Patcher. I missed it while it was put away to make room for the Christmas tree and had to thread it up and stitch some just "because" once it was back! lol

When the SM addiction took hold I purchased a black 206. I was in over my head. So it was put aside for a later day or just surrendering. With some experience under my belt I took on the 206 again. Like Miriam says, "I think Igor had a hand in working on it." The ZZ mechanism is an engineering nightmare, but, I got it worked out at the expense of many broken needles. The timing was totally out of adjustment and the bobbin shuttle stuck in the gelled oil. Things were upside-down, maladjusted and just plain put together wrong. But, Viola, it's working and I'm on a high ready for the next challenge. I just had to tell somebody I'm such a happy camper.

Congrats Vridar! It's always a pain when someone puts something together wrong. Probably why you ended up with it.

Vridar, from what I've seen those are really nice machines. You are likely right you got yours because Igor had at it... I have one in very well used but in great condition. It is wonderful to sew on. Someone put the wrong needle in it (I suspect he just wanted it gone) and I got it.... When you have all the kinks out of it you will be very glad to have that machine.

Thanks for the encouragement. The closer I get to the correct adjustments the better I like it. It feels like a 201 with ZZ, the perfect combination.

Rodney - exactly. And, I had that figured from the original selling description but I had over-estimated my capabilities at the time. My wife does Sudoku. I explain bringing SM back to life is my Sudoku puzzle.
