Default My 66-16...

does not like Mettler thread. I put the Gutermann back on, and it did a perfect stitch. I had tried everything under the sun to make the tension right with the Mettler, and it still would not sew right. I guess I learned something today, thought I would share. I will just save the Mettler for hand sewing and my other, newer Singer. Gina

I have one one 66-4 that will break Gutermann thread about ever three inches. Coats & Clarks and Mettler work great. My other 66-4 hates C&C machine quilting thread but will sew with most anything else.
I have another one that couldn't care less what thread I put through it. It 's a 66-18. I guess you can say that machines are like people, they're individuals.

I've read that Mettler thread is discontinued having been bought out by someone. So perhaps the machine is just telling you it want's a diet of something that can be had down the road.

My Singer 15 clone will use any thread, just like my Juli TL98QE and Babylock Jane. Good thing too, I have tons of thread and plan on using it.

path49,

I don't know where I read it. It was a thread either here or the other forum about thread. The subject of the Mettler thread came up and that's what I was told. If I can find it I'll send you the link.

path49 and others,

I'm sorry I had a brain phart and confused two different brands of thread. When I made the comment that Mettler thread had been discontinued I was actually thinking about Moiniycke thread.

My bad. Oooppsie and ah $........... $hucks! Ha ha, you was thinking I was gonna say a naughty word wasn't cha? Well you know how it gets when you get old and decrepit. Yesterday was my birthday, I'm officially there.
