My Birthday present to myself...She was born in 1948!
She arrived and has been serviced. You can see where some of the paint is missing, wondering if I should just coat with clear nail polish [that is what the service fellow recommended] or get some black auto paint??

OH MY GOSH!!!! Happy Birthday and congratulations. I decided last night that for my birthday which is on SUN and since it was the big 60 I was going to splurge too and get a white featherweight. I am still looking. Great minds think alike. I am thrilled for you! What a great 'to you' present.

Good for you. I've been buying myself a present for my birthday for years. That way, I get what I want.... haha. And congrats on your pretty FW. I have a couple 1947 FWs but they have the scroll style faceplate. I think I read somewhere that singer changed to the straight line faceplate somewhere along 1947 or so. I don't know if this is your 1st but she's a beauty..... enjoy her.

Congrats! I wouldn't paint anything til someone more knowledgable chimes in. Some of the "missing paint" areas on the base of the machine look like corrosion of the aluminum and could need some treatment to prevent further problems. The plate underneath the base unscrews and I think it's worth a look and some pics to be sure nothing is amiss there. Enjoy your new machine!
