Does the motor not work? Did they say what was wrong with it? If it is just bad or worn wiring, that can be fixed fairly easily.

There are lots of tutorials and video's out there to help you along. If you or someone in your family can handle a screw driver and follow instructions ... the machine can be repaired. It's not rocket science.

That's what they said about my new iPhone. I failed charging the battery and answering a phone call.

If you're not up to the task, there is sure to be someone local that is experienced with vintage machines.

I found this guy just by searching "vintage sewing machine repair Herndon VA". I cannot give a personal testimonial, but reading the website ... looks like he knows his way around a vintage machine and CARES.

That guy is about 4.5 hours away from me. He's not very far from my brother though. Maybe I can send it to him and my brother can pick it up. Thanks for the tip.

The repairman said that the "bushings" were bad and if used it could start a fire.

The serviceman is a guy with a day job that services machines for a local quilt shop on the side. He's probably never worked on older machines before. He has been kind enough to come to my house twice to fix my HQ 16... the second time was at no charge. He didn't charge me anything for trying to service Mom's machine either. Nice guy...

I agree with Joe. It will be easy to find another motor. This is a beautiful machine and will sew like a dream. It is worth keeping.

Isn't Sewing Machine Steve a member of this forum? I know he has a Face Book group (I joined it awhile back). You could join the FB group and ask questions on there.
