Default My new machine!

I am so excited! I found a Singer 201, 1946! It is here in town, the cabinet is art deco, not in the best condition but I will enjoy eventually refinishing it. The machine sounds like it needs a bit of tweaking, but was serviced "professionally" a year or two ago, so shouldn't be too bad for me. They are even going to deliver it to me this weekend!

I am thrilled!

Nice desk. Does it have the little ink pot?

That is the same setup my husband has - though we got the machine and cabinet separately. He does have both the ink pot and the removable tray for the bottom drawer.

Well, Miriam, the top little drawer has the PLACE for the inkwell, but not the inkwell itself. Do you have one? That would have been even more cool. I have the Ruffler, and the lady thought there were more attachments but couldn't find them at this time. She said she will have her sister look, who is the last owner of this machine. The cabinet seems solid, just badly in need of refinishing. I will need to re-cover the seat, too.

I think the veneer is coming off the side of mine and I don't remember if the inkwell is there any more or not.

Miriam, would you post a photo of yours? I don't know what the description of "black chrome," would be although I am imagining it. What year is it, that it would be black instead of shiny?

It doesn't show up well in photos - it is just chrome but it looks black. In a photo it looks like chrome.

Did it have anything to do with the year produced? Or just a style option?
