It may be hard to tell from these photos, but can someone tell me what class machine this one is please. . . . I'm still on the hunt too!!

On third photo, I meant to say" is it a 15 class because of where the TENSION KNOB " is? If so 15-WHAT? Thanx brenda

It is a Singer 15-CH...... its the Chinese allotted machine built for the third world market. But it is a class 15 machine.

The tension assembly being on the end tells you it is a class 15 machine.

So would that make it worth more or less? They are asking $400. and I though that sounded quite high.

That is WAY over priced!!! :shock: At best you can buy those machines brand new in a portable case for $50 at the import stores. That machine is still being made today and the quality of them are way off but from what I have heard that you will find one or two that will hold up.

Even though it is an older treadle it would not be worth anything over $75.

The last version 15 class version (15K1xx) from Scotland also has the drop feet mechanism on the bed but it is rare. Most common is the crone / adaptation of China and Taiwan. new one such as this cost US$200 here. I won't say the quality of the crone / adaptation is inferior, as in the case of china the adaptation of the 15-80 is classified by the chinese authority as JB1-1 (domestic sewing machine), this classification enable interchange of components from different factories. Started in 1945 up to the present, if there are of inferior quality they would have long being abandoned, but rather the crone / adaptation under different brands (from different factories) have demonstrate reliability and hold their vintage value (like the Singer) in the chinese market.
