Default My newest and oldest machine.

I did it again. I couldn't resist CL and here's what I found:

I'm not sure what it is but after about 20 minutes of searching, I think it is a Hengstenberg machine built in Bielefeld for importation. The words on the clutch are in German, English, French, and in the Cyrillic alphabet, so for Russia and appropriate satellites. It's likely from the 1920s but I haven't been able to find a serial number/year list.

Based upon this machine's design and another I found online very much like it, it was probably imported through the Silberberg firm in Hamburg and probably headed for the UK. I've seen pictures of similar machines with the names 'Gloriana' and 'Anker' (Anker-Werke AG was a supplier for Hengstenberg and l believe the two companies later merged).

It included a number of attachments and even the manual, all folded up and torn.

I think it's supposed to be a hand crank machine but the crank is missing (but there is a mount with screws below the hand wheel).

That is STUNNING!! I would agree on the Anker-Hengstenberg origin. The Gloria is a known model model they produced. That is fantastic looking machine. FYI, They are also VERY high quality manufacturing, some say better than Singer.

Bah, German made. Worlds greatest copyers. Sure is pretty though.
