Great job! It looks great. What the others said about the pulls. I'd keep them. It's almost like they were designed for that desk.

LMBO! Yeah, the more I see them the more I like them. They are original to the desk and I like that. It's funny, there's a metal tag with a serial number inside the desk that reads "another Necchi cabinet". I think I'll just keep those pulls.

nicely done! That looks fantastic. Did you do any refinishing other than stripping?

I didn't stain, but I did use a few coats of Shellac to seal the wood and then Bri-wax a week later.

That's one of my favorite finishes too. Shellac is a very forgiving finish and really helps to bring out the beauty of the wood. I apply the wax with 0000 steel wool. It cuts any dust and bumps in the shellac and leaves a satiny smooth finish.

Rodney that's how I did it too. I love how the steel wool and wax takes away the super shiny look of the Shellac and gives the wood a warm glow.

Margaret, I haven't had any play time with the machine yet! I had set all the goodies aside while I worked up the machine and got the desk done. Today I found the goodies and made ready to thread the machine. While I was warming up the motor the light was flickering, so I guess I have more work to do!

This Necchi light fixture isn't like anything I've worked on before and it's not making immediate sense yet what the problem is. Grr..
