Purchased a box of attachments and this was in it. Any idea what it is? All it says on it is Japan. The orange part feels like course sandpaper...

Have you got a photo of what the bottom looks like? I am just looking at the angle from the handle part to the "sharpener" and wondering it if has a groove on the bottom?

I'm looking at it possibly being something like this. http://home.clara.net/patty/gramophones/misc.htm Although this is for a needle that would play a record.

I got one of those in a lot of sewing accessories a few years ago. I'd think scissor sharpener is more likely only because needles have been really cheap for a long time, and the things look modern.
I've never tried to use mine.

I just used mine to sharpen my crappy scissors and can say they definitely work. Those things are pretty sharp now!
