Congratulations on your first FW!
I may be wrong, but I am not aware of anything special in the needles. At least I use whatever is handiest in the box.
As for bobbins, they can be purchased on-line or on Ebay. Getting bobbins from an original machine is the best, but reproductions are made also (some better than others, I am told). The Singer 301 uses the same bobbin as the FW.
Have fun with your new machine!

It takes a standard 15x1 needle Bobbins? I'd send a PM to mizkaki (Cathy) here on the board, I'm willing to bet she's got some... I've had a couple of transactions with her now and she's SUPER reliable, and fair prices!

needles and bobbins...
I just use regular needles in my fw. As for the bobbins, I have an address for a guy who was carrying everything imaginable for fw's. Let me know if you still need bobbins, and I will get it to you.

I just ordered some from "April1930s.com", 10 for 6.95 and no shipping. I had used them before based on a posting from this board and got great service. I didn't try the fabric stores but did try a local parts/repair store and they were 1.95 each.
