Default Nelco Sewing Machine

We have a Nelco Sewing Machine, Model A-2, serial number 30466756. This machine has JC 23 stamped on the body. We have been attempting to research this machine but have found nothing. Can you give us any information on this machine?

Can you post a photo? Most of the time if the machine is stamped with a 'JA' or 'JC' on the underside of the machine, the machine was made in Japan. You will not be able to date the machine in that case. Those records were not kept. The Japanese made vintage machines are very well made machines, and usually very dependable.

According to the chart over on the Yahoo Japanese Machines group, J-C is Toyota.

So Joe are you saying that the Japanese company Toyota made the sewing machines with a JC?

Uh yeah, that's what the chart says. TOYOTA, same company that makes the cars and trucks.

There is other articles and information there about the various Japanese companies that made / make sewing machines.
One of them details most of the companies. Very interesting.

I see you have added another child to your fast growing "flock". You and DH are addicted, just like my DH and I! Sorry, no info on the Nelco, but would love to see a pic. See you at the guild meeting!
