New Singer Wind Bobbins----Do They Wind Evenly?
Hi,
I'm looking to purchase some of the new, overseas made Singer Long bobbin for my 27. Has anyone purchased these recently and will they wind without guiding the thread by hand? I purchased some a few years back and they worked but the brass washers were spaced differently so I had to wind bobbins using finger as thread guide. Am I better off searching and paying more for the originals? Thanks.

I bought some a couple years ago and the rims were thicker than the OEM ones. They didn't wind bad, but still they wound more on the ends than the middle. Never could figure out how to fix that.
Don't know how the current ones would work. Personally I'd keep my eyes open for originals. It would be a lot less trouble I think.

You're probably better off searching for some originals. I bought some new bobbins for my grandmother's 27 treadle a few months ago at the local Sew & Vac which stocks a lot of parts and the bobbins weren't quite as long so the bobbin winder would slip thread off the end on one side. I've been wondering if there's some way to adjust the winder, but original bobbins are probably preferable.
